What I've Learned Over Quarantine ♡

I used to be a busy person. And when I mean busy, I meannnn busy.

I was never getting enough sleep and discovered that I was sometimes overkilling myself with everything that I had on my plate. There was finishing up school, working three retail jobs and once and also trying to run my own eyelash extension business. Besides all that I had a dog to take care of, a boyfriend to give attention to and family who just missed my presence.

When the pandemic hit, and everything shut down, I realized that this was the blessing in disguise that the universe was giving me. I finally could have time for myself. Time to breathe. Time to just sit back, relax and not feel pressured by the ticking clock of time.

It was great. I enjoyed it so much. The months passed by and I couldn't care less to be back to normal. I had time to redecorate my room, reorganize my house and care more for my dog.

My dog loved my presence. He was so glad to always be by my side 24/7. I was serene.

I've learned a lot throughout my time being alone, and I'd thought I'd share some of it with you:

It's important to take care of yourself.

Of course, this is something everyone is reminded of, but I found myself really having the time to finally draw a bath, put a clay mask on and do my toenails. I found time to take a juice cleanse, prepare healthier foods to eat and finally use the elliptical that was in the basement. It was fun to do something for myself for a change

You get to know who really cares bout you. For a time where you and everyone else in the world are set on a pause, it can get lonely. I found myself reconnecting with some finds that I haven't connected with for a while, and really loved hearing that everyone else was in the same boat as I was. It was a little disappointing knowing that I was the one who always continued the effort to talk to people, totally fine to some extent, but sometimes I wish that it wasn't always me.

Family means everything. Like many, I've spent an abundant amount of time with family in the past year. And I don't regret it at all. When I used to never be home due to work or school, it was great finally having the moments to prepare meals, play games or even just talk with my family. Hug your loved ones closer to you each night and remember to always say "I love you" at the end of the call. They'd love to hear it.

You can never be "bored". I kept a list on my phone of 'Quarantine TO-DO' I wanted to make sure that I never wasted any of my days. Even if I found myself scrolling on social media, I'd try to curate ideas for content that I would love to eventually post. I found myself discovering a lot more talents and hobbies during this time and I don't regret it.

I'd love to talk more about the other things I've discovered during this unprecedented time but I don't want my first blog post to be that long.

Thank you so much for reading and listening to my first and very short post. I'm so excited about what will be of this site in the next year.

Lots of love,

Elaine xo
